External lookup for metadata
Is there any way to force a lookup of an external database for a metadata field that will be a dropdown? I can always run a nightly routine to update, using the API, a controlled list for a metadata field but if this could be live and coming from an external database by calling some external routine or similar - that would be great.
Has anybody done this and what is involved?
